Senior Financial Sector Expert, Monetary and Capital Markets Department at International Monetary Fund

Thomas Piontek is a senior financial sector expert in the Global Markets Analysis Division of the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department where he contributes to the Global Financial Stability Report and is a member of the IMF’s market surveillance team. Prior to the IMF, he was a researcher at the Office of Financial Research, and Financial Stability Oversight Council at the US Treasury contributing to the production of their financial stability reports and conducting research on emerging financial vulnerabilities and policy implications. He holds an MBA and MS in finance from the University of Maryland, a BS in finance from Virginia Tech, and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
