In the last decades, domestic and international policymakers have faced major challenges, ranging from immigration flows, economic and financial crises, COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, climate change, population aging. These phenomena have largely dominated the public and political debate and shaped voters’ preferences, beliefs, and electoral behaviour. Traditional political parties have struggled to respond to these challenges and populist parties are on the rise worldwide.
This EJPE-CEPR Political Economy Conference will bring together economic and political science researchers and policymakers to discuss state-of-the-art research on political economics.
The 2-day conference will take place in Napoli, Italy on September 23 and 24, 2024. The conference is jointly organized by the Institute for European Policymaking at Bocconi University (IEP@BU) and CEPR with generous support from the European Journal of Political Economy (EJPE) and Elsevier, in collaboration with the hosting institution in Napoli, Università Parthenope, and with the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich.
The Scientific Committee is composed by Vincenzo Galasso (Bocconi University, EJPE and CEPR), Helios Herrera (University of Warwick and CEPR), Johanna Rickne (Stockholm University, EJPE and CEPR), Thomas Stratmann (George Mason and EJPE) and Jan-Egbert Sturm (ETH Zurich and EJPE).
