Steven J. Davis is Distinguished Service Professor of International Business and Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is a Senior Academic Fellow with the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economics Research, Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, advisor to the U.S. Congressional Budget Office, Elected Fellow of the Society of Labor Economists, consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, senior adviser to the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity and past editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics. He co-organizes the Asian Monetary Policy Forum, held annually in Singapore. Davis studies business dynamics, labor markets, economic fluctuations, economic uncertainty, and public policy. He is known for his influential work using longitudinal data on firms and establishments to explore business performance and labor market implications. He is a co-creator of the Economic Policy Uncertainty Indices, the Survey of Business Uncertainty, and the Survey of Working Arrangements and Attitudes.
